Terms & Conditions

  1. IPHatch® Programme (the "Event") is organised by Piece Future Pte. Ltd. (“PF”), Intellectual Property Intermediary (“IPI”), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation ("MDEC"), IPOPHL Philippines (“IPOPHL”), NATEC Vietnam ("NATEC"), Kumpul Indonesia (“Kumpul"), City of Glasgow College ("CoGC") and IKE Scottish ("IKE"). (PF, IPI, MDEC, IPOPHL, NATEC, Kumpul, CoGC and IKE are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Organisers”). 

  2. All copyright, trademarks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights (registered or unregistered) related to IPHatch® belong to PF and/or third parties. PF reserves all of its rights in relation thereto. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions shall grant you the rights or license to use any copyright, trademarks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights owned or controlled by PF or any third parties except with their prior written consent. 

  3. Entry to the Event venue may be subject to the venue’s prevailing terms and conditions of entry. The Organisers or their sponsors or partners shall not be held liable in the event that any participant is denied entry to the Event venue due to breach of the venue’s terms and conditions of entry or any other circumstances beyond the Organisers’ reasonable control. 

  4. The Organisers may postpone, cancel, interrupt or terminate the Event at any time due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (including but not limited to war, riots, terrorism, acts of God, acts of the enemy, decrees or restraints by governmental or public authorities, strikes, insurrections, civil commotion, transmission and/or communications disruptions or failure and other causes of such nature), without any liability to the Organisers or their sponsors or partners. 

  5. If the Event is postponed to a new date or venue, the Organisers shall give notice of such postponement to the participants as soon as reasonably practicable. 

  6. If the Event is cancelled, the Organisers shall give notice of cancellation to the participants as soon as reasonably practicable. 

  7. The Organisers reserve the rights to add, vary, withdraw or substitute advertised programs or change the Event time, venue or audience capacity without prior notice and without any liability to the Organisers or their sponsors or partners. 

  8. By registering for the Event, each participant agrees to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and further agrees that: 

    • ​all personal data submitted may be collected, used and/or disclosed to the Organisers and their respective affiliates for various purposes, including but not limited to communication with the participant for purposes related to the Event, providing goods and services to the participant upon request, and such other purposes the Organisers and their respective affiliates may reasonably deem appropriate, or in relation to which the participant has otherwise provided the Organisers with consent; and 

    • the Organisers may collect, use, disclose and share amongst themselves and their respective affiliates, partners, service providers, the participant’s personal data, including the photographs or audio-visual or other recordings of the participant for publicity and/or use in advertisements across all media, including, without limitation, the Organisers and their respective affiliate’s publications, presentations, promotional materials on their websites, in its original or edited format, and whether the purpose of which is to promote the Event or otherwise without further notification, remuneration or compensation. 

  9. ​The Organisers shall not be held liable for any loss (including, without limitation, any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive loss) or damage of any kind incurred by any party in connection with the registration for, attendance at, relocation, postponement or cancellation of the Event, except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum amount allowed by the relevant law). 

  10. For seminars and workshops, any information and views expressed by the guest speakers or presenters are solely made by their own. The speakers or presenters shall ensure the rightful ownership of any intellectual property right in their presentation materials and that any facts, representations, statements whatsoever made in these materials are true and accurate. The Organisers shall be in no way liable for these materials or any loss or damage in connection with any use of these materials. 

  11. All businesses must incorporate a start-up in the country or city of the IPHatch® event is held. That is, if you are participating in the Event, you must set up a company in the respective country with Organisers and the company must operate substantially in the territory. 

  12. If your company is a small and medium enterprise (SME), you will be reviewed by PF, and may be required to spin-off a new company in the country or city of the IPHatch® event is held.

  13. All business proposals submitted will be kept confidential, and will be shared only with our judging panel (the “Panel”) which includes the Organisers, IP originators, funding partners, strategic and all relevant partners. 

  14. Shortlisted / successful participants will be selected by the Panel and will be notified via email. 

  15. The Organisers or their sponsors or partners shall not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with any decision made by the Panel. Moreover, the Organisers have the rights to change any agreed award to any successful participant at their own sole discretion in the event that such change is beyond the Organisers’ reasonable control and in no circumstances the Organisers shall be liable to any loss or damage incurred or suffered by the participant in connection with such change.  

  16. The Organisers have the rights to assign other portfolios to start-ups, subject to negotiations. 

  17. Each participant understands that each portfolio consists of different patents, and they should use the selected portfolios to conceive business proposals for challenge submission. Each participant has a choice to choose their primary and secondary portfolios during submission. In the event that any participant is unsure on the patent portfolio, they should check the box “Portfolio X” in the primary category. 

  18. Each participant understands and agrees to the equity stated on the website and will not negotiate anything lower than the percentage stated. 

  19. Each participant shall indemnify and keeps the Organisers indemnified from and against all losses, liabilities and any third-party claims incurred or made against the Organisers resulting from or related to (i) any breach of these Terms and Conditions of the participant; or (ii) any act, default, negligence or wilful misconduct of the participant in relation to their participation in the Event.  

  20. The Organisers reserve the rights to change these Terms & Conditions. 

  21. These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Each Participant hereby irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore as regards any claim, matter of proceedings arising under these Terms & Conditions.
